Dog Boarding Cost in India 2026: Per-Day, Per-Week & Per-Month Rates

By Sahil5 min read

Parents looking at boarding for the first time always ask me the same question. "What's a normal night going to cost?" In India in 2026, the honest answer is Rs 500 to Rs 2,500. The Rs 2,000 spread inside that range is the part nobody explains.

This is the per-day, per-week, and per-month breakdown I share with parents when they ask, plus the inclusions that change the bill more than the headline rate does.

Running a boarding business yourself? See the dog daycare and boarding pricing guide for operators for rate-card structure, cost math, and how to set your prices.

Per-night rates, sorted by city tier and type of stay

Type of stayMetro (Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi NCR)Tier 2 (Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai)Tier 3 (Jaipur, Lucknow, Coimbatore)
Home boardingRs 800 to Rs 1,200Rs 700 to Rs 1,000Rs 500 to Rs 800
Standard kennel / pet hotelRs 1,000 to Rs 1,800Rs 800 to Rs 1,200Rs 600 to Rs 900
Premium pet resort (AC, suite)Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,500+Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,800Rs 900 to Rs 1,200

Smaller dogs (under 10 kg) tend to land at the lower end of each range. Large or giant breeds (25 kg+) add 20 to 30%. Puppies sometimes carry a small surcharge of Rs 100 to Rs 200 for extra cleanup and house-training supervision.

What you actually get at each tier

Home boarding, Rs 500 to Rs 1,200 per night

The host runs the booking out of their own home. Your dog stays in shared living space with the family. Two meals a day with the food you send. One or two walks. Group playtime if other boarders are around. WhatsApp photos.

No AC. No private room. Usually no grooming. The host's home and time is the product, not the infrastructure.

I see home boarding charge 20 to 40% less than a comparable kennel in the same city. The reason is simple: no rent overhead.

Standard kennel or pet hotel, Rs 800 to Rs 1,800 per night

A dedicated facility. Your dog gets an enclosure or a room, sometimes shared. Two or three meals. Two or three walks. Supervised group play, usually outdoor. Photo updates daily, often a short video on stays longer than 2 nights. Basic medication if your dog is on it.

AC is usually a Rs 200 to Rs 400 per night upgrade, not a default. Grooming and pickup drop are paid extras.

Premium pet resort, Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 (and up) per night

Individual climate-controlled rooms or suites. Often a swimming pool or play yard. Webcam access at some properties. Customized meals (home-cooked or vet-prescribed). Multiple walks and one-on-one playtime. Grooming bundled in on long stays. Pickup and drop usually free within city limits.

This is the only tier where surprise extras are uncommon. Most charges are baked into the headline rate.

Weekly rates (7-night stay)

TierPer nightStandard 7-night quote (10% discount)
Budget home boardingRs 600Rs 3,800
Standard home boardingRs 1,000Rs 6,300
Standard kennelRs 1,400Rs 8,800
Premium resortRs 2,000Rs 12,600
Top-end premiumRs 2,500Rs 15,750

10 to 15% off for stays of 7 nights or more is the most common shape. Some operators hold the per-night rate flat and bundle a free grooming or one pickup-drop instead. Same effective discount, different framing.

Monthly rates (30-night stay)

TierPer night30-night quote (25% discount)
Budget home boardingRs 600Rs 13,500
Standard home boardingRs 1,000Rs 22,500
Standard kennelRs 1,400Rs 31,500
Premium resortRs 2,000Rs 45,000

Long-term stays often negotiate 20 to 30% off the per-night rate. Operators do this because long-term occupancy is more valuable than rolling short stays (less turnover, predictable revenue). Most include a free monthly grooming on stays of 30+ nights if you ask.

Add-ons that change the bill

ServiceTypical price
Pickup and drop (one way)Rs 200 to Rs 500
Bath and brushRs 300 to Rs 600
Full groomingRs 800 to Rs 1,500
Extra walkRs 150 to Rs 250
Medication administrationRs 100 to Rs 200 per day
Special diet (home-cooked or prescribed)Rs 100 to Rs 200 per day
Webcam accessRs 100 to Rs 200 per day
Late pickup or early dropRs 200 to Rs 400

For a 5-night stay, add-ons typically lift the total bill by 20 to 30%. Ask for a written quote that lists each add-on separately before you book.

The hidden line items

Most operators take a 30 to 50% deposit at booking and the balance at drop-off. A few flat-fee operators ask for Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 to hold the slot regardless of stay length.

Watch for these often-missed line items:

  • Late pickup fee if you collect your dog after the agreed time
  • Vaccination check-in fee at premium kennels that re-verify on arrival
  • GST at 18% on registered facilities, which adds meaningfully to any Rs 10,000+ booking
  • Festival surcharge during Diwali, Christmas, New Year. Peak weeks carry 20 to 30% surge pricing because demand stacks against the same supply

Get the full quote in writing. The single biggest red flag I see is "we'll figure it out at pickup." That's a 20% bill increase waiting to happen. Walk away.

How I compare two operators in the same city

Two operators in the same neighbourhood quoting Rs 800 and Rs 1,200 for the same dog usually differ in one of three ways:

  1. Different inclusions. Rs 1,200 includes three walks, daily brush, webcam. Rs 800 includes one walk and twice-daily updates. The Rs 1,200 is often cheaper per included service.
  2. Different group sizes. A home boarder capping at three dogs gives more individual attention than a kennel running 20 dogs across three staff. Worth more for anxious or senior dogs.
  3. Different track records. A boarder with 5 years of reviews carries less risk than a new entrant. The premium is for predictability.

The question I ask when I'm helping a parent decide: "What's a normal day look like for my dog at your place?" Specific, hour-by-hour answers are a good sign. Vague answers are also a signal.

What petboard operators charge

Operators using petboard set per-night rates inside the platform, generate a quote at booking, and send the customer a WhatsApp link with the breakdown. Per-night, add-ons, taxes, deposit. No hidden math at pickup.

If you're a pet parent looking for boarding, ask the operator if they use petboard or another booking tool. A written quote up front saves the "actually, that'll be extra" conversation at checkout.
