Pet Boarding & Training Software in India (2026) — What Actually Works
I spent the last 2 months talking to pet boarding and training operators across India. Home sitters in Bangalore, facility owners in Guwahati, trainers in Mumbai, a sitter network coordinator managing 150+ sitters.
I wanted to understand how they run their businesses. And I wanted to figure out if any software actually helps them.
The answer is complicated.
What I found
Every single operator I talked to runs on WhatsApp and notebooks. Some use Google Sheets on top. A few tried software, got frustrated, and went back to WhatsApp.
The pattern was the same each time. They want help with intake, scheduling, parent updates, medication tracking. But the software they find either costs too much, forces parents to download an app (parents will not do this), or tries to do everything and ends up too complicated for a 5-dog home boarding setup.
So they go back to WhatsApp. Because WhatsApp works. Until you miss a medication or forget to send a photo update and a parent calls at 10 PM asking how their dog is doing.
Every option I looked at
Pettle
Pettle was probably the most India-specific option. Built in Mumbai, had GST invoicing, Razorpay, WhatsApp reminders. They tried to cover vet clinics, grooming salons, boarding, daycare.
I talked to 3 operators who used Pettle. 2 complaints kept coming up. It was bloated. And parents refused to download the app. 1 boarding facility in Surat told me they gave up on Pettle entirely because of this.
Pricing was on the higher end. Steep when you are running 8 dogs out of your house.
If you are looking for a Pettle alternative, I will help you migrate for free.
Happy Pet Tech
Happy Pet Tech is the most active player in India right now. Rs 499/month makes them affordable. Their content marketing is well done. Credit where it is due.
Good for grooming salons, pet retail, multi-service pet spas. That is their sweet spot.
I would not recommend it if you are a home sitter, a trainer, or you coordinate a network of sitters. The workflows are built around appointments and POS. If you are doing multi-day boarding stays or tracking training progress across 12 sessions, it is a stretch.
MoeGo
Solid product. Genuinely good software. But built for American pet businesses with American pricing. Starts around Rs 4,000/month, goes up to Rs 13,000+. Has GPS tracking for mobile groomers, which is cool if you are in LA.
No UPI. No WhatsApp. No understanding of how a Bangalore home boarder charges Rs 800/night and manages bookings on a phone screen.
If you are a large facility with international margins, MoeGo might work. For everyone else in India, the math does not work.
Gingr
Even more expensive than MoeGo. Rs 9,000+/month. Designed for American boarding chains running 50+ dogs with front desk staff. If you are reading this article, Gingr is probably not for you.
DoggieDashboard
Free tier exists. That is the main selling point. It is a basic kennel management tool with no WhatsApp, no UPI, no intake forms, nothing India-specific. I have seen operators set it up, use it for a week, and go back to their notebook.
petboard
I built petboard. So take everything below with a healthy dose of skepticism and go try it yourself.
What petboard actually is:
WhatsApp-native. Sitters upload a photo, hit share, it goes straight to the parent on WhatsApp. No Cloud API approval. No Meta business verification. No waiting 3 months for a phone number. Works today.
No parent app. Parents get a link. Opens in their browser. They see photos, schedule, check-in time. Nobody downloads anything. This 1 decision solved the biggest complaint I heard from operators about every other tool.
Built for Indian operators. Intake forms with custom fields. Training session logs with progress ratings and milestones. Sitter magic links where your sitter gets a browser page to upload photos and log check-ins. Graduation certificates for training programs. Payment tracking in rupees.
Free during beta. Founder pricing after that starts at Rs 199/month.
What petboard is not: not a vet clinic system, not a grooming scheduler, not built for 100-dog facilities yet. I am focused on operators running 5 to 30 dogs.
The honest recommendation
| What you need | Best pick |
|---|---|
| Grooming salon | Happy Pet Tech |
| Vet clinic | Vetlify or VetOS |
| Boarding or training, small to medium | petboard |
| Large US-style facility | MoeGo |
| Sitter network coordination | petboard |
| Switching from Pettle | petboard (free migration) |
| Just want something free | petboard (free during beta) |
There is no perfect pet business software in India. The market barely exists. Most operators are running on WhatsApp groups and that honestly works fine until you hit 10 dogs or start coordinating with sitters.
If you are at that point where the notebooks are not cutting it anymore, give petboard a try. 5 minutes to set up. Nothing for your clients to download.
