Your clients are in a spreadsheet?

Move your clients from Excel or Google Sheets to petboard

Upload your client list. You match the columns and check 5 rows. Then petboard imports it.

Importing your client list is free. You can check your file and import it now. If the file cannot be imported automatically, we import it for you within one working day.

How it works

  1. 1
    Sign up

petboard asks "Moving from another app, Excel or a register?". Choose "Yes, from Excel or Google Sheets".

  2. 2
    Upload your file

On "Bring your clients over", tap "Upload your client list". Pick your file. Type how many rows it has and what it holds. Read the short statement to the end, tick the box, then tap "Sign & upload".

  3. 3
    Match your columns

petboard matches each column in your sheet to a field in petboard. Check each match. You can change any of them.

  4. 4
    Check 5 rows

petboard shows 5 rows from your sheet as they will look in petboard. It also tells you which rows cannot come over, and why.

  5. 5
    Import

Tap Import. Your clients and their pets appear in petboard.

What your sheet should look like

  • The top row has the column names. A title row above it is fine.
  • One pet per row. A client with 2 pets takes 2 rows, with the same phone number on both rows.
  • Two columns are needed: client phone and pet name. Every other column is optional.
  • The client phone is an Indian mobile number with 10 digits. +91, 91 or 0 in front is fine. If a cell has 2 numbers, petboard uses the first one.
  • Pet type is dog or cat. If your sheet has no pet type column, petboard asks you which kind they are.
  • If petboard cannot tell the day from the month in a date, like 04/03/2024, it asks you.
  • CSV or Excel files work (.csv, .xlsx, .xls). Up to 10 MB and up to 5,000 rows. If an Excel file has more than 1 sheet, you can choose the sheet.

Clients already in petboard

  • petboard knows a client by their phone number.
  • If a client is already in petboard, petboard adds their new pets to them. A pet they already have with the same name is not added again. Details you already saved are not changed.
  • If the same pet appears twice in your sheet, only the first row comes over.
  • If you upload the same sheet again, the pets are not added twice.

What petboard leaves out

  • Balance, amount paid, fees. Money is not imported from a file.
  • "Agreed to terms", photo consent. Clients agree again on their next form.
  • Aadhaar, PAN, passport. ID numbers are never imported.
  • Active, archived. Every new pet starts as active.
  • Sr no, client ID. petboard does not need record numbers from your old tool.

Rows that cannot come over

petboard shows you how many rows have each problem, before you import.

  • No phone number
  • The phone number cannot be read
  • Not an Indian mobile number
  • No pet name
  • More than 1 pet in the same row
  • Pet name is longer than 100 letters
  • Pet type is not dog or cat
  • The same pet appears again
  • Looks like a test entry

If more than 1 in 10 rows cannot come over, or more than 1 in 20 rows have no phone number petboard can use, petboard stops before it adds anything and tells you why. Fix the file and upload it again, or tap "Import it for me".

When we import it for you

You upload your file the same way. In these cases we already have your file, and we import it for you within one working day:

  • The sheet has more than 5,000 rows.
  • The sheet has more than 1 pet in a row, for example "Pet 1 name" and "Pet 2 name" columns.
  • The sheet has dates as column names, or more than 60 columns.
  • petboard cannot find a row of column names at the top of the sheet.
  • petboard cannot open the file. A password on the file is often why.
  • Your business has more than 1 brand. Then upload a CSV file.

Matching the columns is hard? Tap "Import it for me". We import it within one working day.

Before you upload

You sign a short statement. It says you collected your clients' details lawfully and may share them with petboard. You read the full text before you agree.

Your file stays inside petboard and is deleted 90 days after you upload it.

Bring your clients over
