Your clients filled a Google Form?

Move your clients from a Google Form to petboard

Download the answers from Google and upload the file. You match the columns and check 5 rows. Then petboard imports it.

Importing your client list is free. You can check your file and import it now. If the file cannot be imported automatically, we import it for you within one working day.

How it works

  1. 1
    Download your answers

Get your form answers out of Google as an Excel or CSV file. The steps are below.

  2. 2
    Sign up

petboard asks "Moving from another app, Excel or a register?". Choose "Yes, from Excel or Google Sheets".

  3. 3
    Upload your file

On "Bring your clients over", tap "Upload your client list". Pick your file. Type how many rows it has and what it holds. Read the short statement to the end, tick the box, then tap "Sign & upload".

  4. 4
Match your columns and check 5 rows

petboard matches the questions it knows to fields in petboard. Check each match. You can change any of them. Then petboard shows 5 rows as they will look in petboard.

  5. 5
    Import

Tap Import. Your clients and their pets appear in petboard.

Download your answers from Google Forms

  1. On a computer, open your form in Google Forms.
  2. Click "Responses".
  3. At the top right, click "Link to Sheets". Your answers open in Google Sheets.
  4. In Google Sheets, click File, then Download. Choose Excel (.xlsx) or CSV (.csv).
  5. Upload the file in petboard on the same computer.

Or, on the Responses tab, click More (the 3 dots), then "Download responses (.csv)". Upload that .csv file.

Your questions become the column names

Google puts each question at the top of a column, and each client's answers in one row. Long questions are fine. petboard reads the words in each question and suggests a field. Some examples:

Question in your formField in petboard
Your nameClient name
Your phone numberClient phone
Email addressEmail
What is your dog's name?Pet name
Is your dog on any medication? If yes, please give detailsMedicines, or On medication (yes or no)
Does your dog have any allergies?Allergies
  • Two answers are needed for each row: client phone and pet name. Every other question is optional.
  • If petboard cannot place a question, it leaves it unmatched. You can match it yourself or leave it out.
  • Care answers, like medicines and allergies, are what your staff use at check-in. Before you import, you tick each care column after you check its answers.

Things that are different in a form file

  • The "Timestamp" column is when the client filled the form. petboard leaves it out.
  • "I agree" answers are left out. Clients agree again on their next form in petboard.
  • File upload answers, like a photo of a vaccine card, are links to Google Drive. petboard does not copy those files.
  • If a client filled your form twice for the same pet, only the first of those rows in your file comes over. Google does not always sort a downloaded file by date, so check which row is first. Delete the row you do not want before you upload.
  • If a client wrote 2 pets in one answer, like "Bruno and Coco", petboard sets that row aside. Split it into 2 rows before you upload.
  • If your form asks for "Pet 1" and "Pet 2" in separate questions, we import it for you (see below).
  • Google makes one column for each question, and one more for each row of a grid question. If your file has more than 60 columns, we import it for you (see below).
  • Phone answers are typed by clients. If petboard cannot read a 10-digit Indian mobile number in an answer, that row is set aside, and petboard tells you before you import.

What petboard leaves out

  • Balance, amount paid, fees. Money is not imported from a file.
  • "Agreed to terms", photo consent. Clients agree again on their next form.
  • Aadhaar, PAN, passport. ID numbers are never imported.
  • Active, archived. Every new pet starts as active.
  • Sr no, client ID. petboard does not need record numbers from your old tool.

Rows that cannot come over

petboard shows you how many rows have each problem, before you import.

  • No phone number
  • The phone number cannot be read
  • Not an Indian mobile number
  • No pet name
  • More than 1 pet in the same row
  • Pet name is longer than 100 letters
  • Pet type is not dog or cat
  • The same pet appears again
  • Looks like a test entry

When we import it for you

You upload your file the same way. In these cases we already have your file, and we import it for you within one working day:

  • The sheet has more than 5,000 rows.
  • The sheet has more than 1 pet in a row, for example "Pet 1 name" and "Pet 2 name" columns.
  • The sheet has dates as column names, or more than 60 columns.
  • petboard cannot find a row of column names at the top of the sheet.
  • petboard cannot open the file. A password on the file is often why.
  • Your business has more than 1 brand. Then upload a CSV file.

Matching the columns is hard? Tap "Import it for me". We import it within one working day.

CSV or Excel files work (.csv, .xlsx, .xls), up to 10 MB and 5,000 rows.

After you move

petboard has its own intake form. You share its link with clients. Their answers wait on the Intake page under "Requests", and you book them from there. You can add your own questions to it, like the ones in your Google Form.

Before you upload

You sign a short statement. It says you collected your clients' details lawfully and may share them with petboard. You read the full text before you agree.

Your file stays inside petboard and is deleted 90 days after you upload it.

Bring your clients over

Importing your client list is free. You can check your file and import it now. If the file cannot be imported automatically, we import it for you within one working day.
